Tutoring in Rotorua, because your child counts

Rotorua students work with Impact Tutoring online: live one-on-one lessons in maths, English and NCEA subjects, with the same matched tutor every week. It starts with a relaxed phone call about what is going on at school, not a test.

Built around Rotorua students

Rotorua has a handful of tutoring options, but almost all of it is group-based. Online 1:1 is a different thing entirely: the whole hour is about your child. We work with students from Western Heights High, Rotorua Boys' and Girls' High, John Paul College, Rotorua Lakes High and the city's intermediates and primaries, and every plan is built around what their own teacher is seeing in class.

Every student starts with a relaxed phone call so we understand what is going on at school, then we match them with the right tutor. Juniors can begin with a full numeracy and literacy assessment so lessons target the real gaps from day one.

How online lessons work

  • One-on-one, live with your child's own matched tutor
  • Same tutor, same day and time, every week
  • Built around their school programme, from Year 1 to NCEA Level 3 and adult learning
  • Plain-English progress updates for parents

Your nearest Hub: Te Awamutu Hub

Impact started in Te Awamutu, about 90 minutes away, where founder Jean McKenzie still runs the original Hub network.

Te Awamutu Hub is locally owned and run by Narelle Brooks. In-person lessons there are 1:2, online lessons are 1:1, and both follow the same Impact approach.

Rotorua tutoring questions, answered

Is there an Impact Tutoring centre in Rotorua?

Not yet. Rotorua students learn with us online, one-on-one with the same tutor each week. Our nearest in-person Hub is in Te Awamutu, where Impact began.

How is this different from the group tutoring already in Rotorua?

Group sessions split a tutor across several students. Impact lessons are 1:1 for the full hour, with a tutor matched to your child after a phone consultation and a plan built from an assessment, not guesswork.

Do you run maths classes in Rotorua?

Not group classes. We do one-on-one maths lessons online, weekly, with the same tutor. If you have been searching for maths classes in Rotorua, this is the individual version, matched to your child's year level and gaps.

What does tutoring cost in Rotorua?

One-hour weekly lessons from $58 (junior) to $70 (adult), always 1:1 online. A full junior numeracy and literacy assessment is $249. No lock-in contracts.

Can you help with NCEA and the CAA co-requisites?

Yes. NCEA Levels 1 to 3 across more than 12 subjects, plus focused preparation for the numeracy and literacy co-requisites that every student now needs to pass.
