Specialised Intensive Support Pathway
Support built around your child, one on one.
For families who have tried everything. Our Specialised Intensive Support Pathway is a dedicated 1:1 programme for your child, if they live with severe neurodevelopmental conditions or medically documented learning impairments and standard classroom and small-group support is not enough.

Why we built it
Hub owners across the network, from Te Awamutu to the Far North to Hawke's Bay, keep having the same conversation: families whose child has a diagnosis, a developmental delay, or a set of needs complex enough that a shared classroom or small tutoring group was never going to be enough. These families are not being heard.
"We built this business on the idea that every person counts. This pathway is for the families who have been told, in one way or another, that their child doesn't fit. We think they do. They just need the right kind of support."
Jean McKenzie, Founder of Impact Tutoring
Who is it for?
A small number of children face profound cognitive, neurological or medical challenges that require a dedicated 1:1 programme for your child.
A formal diagnosis
Children with a formal to clinical diagnosis, whose needs mean a shared classroom or small tutoring group was never going to be enough.
Progress that has stalled
Children whose progress has stalled no matter how much mainstream support they have had.
Needs that call for 1:1
Children whose combination of needs means one-on-one, moment-by-moment attention is the only thing that actually works for them.
How it differs from our usual tutoring
Our core model: 2:1
Small-group sessions remain the gold standard for accelerating learning, building independent study habits and giving targeted curriculum support. It is what most children thrive in, whether they need catch-up, confidence, exam preparation or mild to moderate learning support.
The pathway: 1:1
Dedicated one-on-one sessions for your child that adapt moment by moment to complex cognitive profiles, with the intense, tailored direction needed when standard classroom and small-group settings are not viable. A deliberate departure from the core model, for children it was never designed to reach.
How it starts
Entry is managed through a formal intake assessment and requires medical or clinical documentation, so that your child is paired with the right tutor.
The first step is simply a conversation with your Hub owner.
Questions, answered
- Is the Specialised Intensive Support Pathway available now?
- Yes, it is available now. Contact your Hub owner to talk about your child. Find your Hub →
- Who is the pathway for?
- It is for children with severe neurodevelopmental conditions or medically documented learning impairments: children with a formal to clinical diagnosis, children whose progress has stalled despite mainstream support, and children whose combination of needs means one-on-one attention is what works for them.
- How is it different from standard Impact Tutoring?
- Our core model uses small 2:1 sessions, which work brilliantly for most children. The pathway offers dedicated one-on-one sessions that adapt moment by moment to complex learning profiles. It is a deliberate departure from the core model, built for children the core model was not designed to reach.
- What does entry involve?
- Entry is managed through a formal intake assessment and requires medical or clinical documentation, so that your child is paired with the right tutor.
- My child needs catch-up, confidence or exam help. Is this for us?
- Probably not. General catch-up, confidence building, exam preparation and mild to moderate learning support are what our standard 2:1 sessions are built for, and most children thrive there. See how tutoring works, or get in touch and we will help you work out the right fit.
Because you count.
Every Hub is built around the whole child, with wellbeing and belonging as much as academic results. If you think this pathway could be right for your child, start with a chat with your Hub owner.
