How do I know if my child is behind at school?

A junior numeracy or literacy assessment is the clearest way to find out. It shows exactly what your child knows and what to work on next, so you get real answers rather than guessing. It is relaxed and low-pressure - it starts with a chat, not a test.

What is a numeracy assessment?

A junior numeracy assessment checks your child's number knowledge and maths understanding to establish their current level - what they have mastered and what comes next - so any tutoring starts in exactly the right place.

What is a literacy assessment?

A junior literacy assessment looks at reading, spelling, writing and alphabet and sound knowledge, so we can see where your child is at and build a plan from there.

Can an assessment identify dyslexia?

A full cognitive and educational assessment, carried out by a registered educational psychologist, can identify and diagnose specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia if they are present.

Do I need an assessment before tutoring starts?

Yes - for primary and intermediate learners, an assessment always comes first. We know it can feel like one more step when you're keen to get started, but it isn't optional paperwork: it's how we see the full picture of where your child is at, so their tutor can start exactly where they're needed, not guess.
